2.1 Information You Provide

• Phone Number: Required for account creation and verification via SMS OTP
• Display Name: The name you choose to show to other users
• Messages: Chat messages sent to other users through the app

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: Your current location and destination when actively searching for ride partners (only while the app is in use and you have started a search)
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and push notification tokens
• Usage Data: App interactions, connection requests, and ride completions

2.3 Information from Third Parties

• Firebase Authentication: We use Firebase for phone number verification
• CometChat: We use CometChat for messaging functionality

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Match you with nearby riders heading in the same direction
• Enable communication between matched riders
• Calculate and display fare estimates
• Send push notifications about nearby riders and connection requests
• Maintain safety through user ratings and reporting features
• Improve our services and user experience

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 With Other Users

When you start searching for ride partners, the following information becomes visible to other nearby users:

• Your display name
• Your approximate pickup location
• Your destination
• Your rating (if you have completed rides)

4.2 With Service Providers

We share data with third-party services that help us operate the app:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and cloud functions
• CometChat: Real-time messaging
• Google Maps: Location services and geocoding

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:

• All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/SSL
• Data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud)
• Phone number verification prevents unauthorized account access
• We do not store SMS verification codes

6. Data Retention

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
• Location Data: Automatically deleted when you stop searching (within 15 minutes of inactivity)
• Chat Messages: Retained for the duration of the connection, deleted when connection ends
• Ratings: Retained indefinitely to maintain community trust

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")

8. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time:

• In-App: Go to Profile Menu → Delete Account

Upon deletion, all your personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

SHRD is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
